USGBC National Capital is leading the nation in making healthy, sustainable buildings a reality for the people of the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area within a generation.

That is why the National Capital Region has consistently ranked among the Top 10 states for LEED since 2010. We serve the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Our diverse membership includes developers, builders, designers, environmentalists, educators, and community leaders. Each provides a wealth of knowledge and industry access at every level. Today, in the D.C. area, you'll find some of the strongest green building codes in the country, the most LEED-certified space per person in the U.S. and one of the highest concentrations of LEED professionals in the nation.

Our large network of members advances USGBC's mission locally by providing opportunities to learn, lead and connect:

• We host education events, green building tours and networking socials like the annual Green Tie Affair.
• We celebrate local leadership through LEED plaque presentations and our Community Leadership Awards which are given each year at the A Midsummer Nights Green
• We provide opportunities for leadership development through volunteer groups, including our Market Leadership Advisory Board, Women in Green, Emerging Professionals, and Core Programming committees.
• We are hosting the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in 2023.
