The Greenbuild International Conference and Expo is coming back to Washington, D.C., in 2023 from Sept. 26 to 29. With so much to highlight from across the District, Maryland and Virginia, USGBC seeks your proposals to help flesh out an exceptional tour program during the conference.

We welcome your stellar proposals for tour locations in and around the nation’s capital. Tours are an opportunity to show and tell why the area ranks consistently in the Top 10 States for LEED and has certified under LEED Cities and Communities since Greenbuild was last here in 2015. Each year, millions of people visit D.C., but how many get a behind-the-scenes view into the region’s sustainability leadership? Help us tell that story through the Greenbuild tours.

Potential tours

Opportunities for tour proposals are endless:

A single building that demonstrates exceptional green features and performance
A campus tour focused on institutional sustainability
A walking tour of historic green buildings
A bus tour outside the city to visit iconic green buildings and sites
A behind-the-scenes tour of a sustainable business, organization or operation
A community tour of a sustainable neighborhood
A tour of your favorite green buildings and places

Tours will be hosted on Tuesday, Sept. 26 and Friday, Sept. 29. Proposals will be reviewed by the Greenbuild Host Committee. Those selected will become a part of a full- or half-day tour. Submit a proposal by March 1 to be considered for the Greenbuild 2023 tour program.

Applications are welcome from all sustainable efforts that may be visited in the capital region. It is important to note that tour sites are not required to be a building. Be creative, and propose a tour that you would want to take!

Proposals chosen and submitter contacted for confirmation: April
Tour proposal and site hosts confirmed by April 28
Promotion of tours: May through September
