The green building community mourns the passing of Elizabeth Torres Rodríguez of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, on March 13. Torres Rodíguez, a CSR professional and principal at SEUS: Sostenibilidad Universal, was also a member of USGBC's Social Equity Working Group and instrumental in translating the LEED Social Equity pilot credits for Spanish-speaking audiences.

I knew Elizabeth during her time on the Social Equity Working Group. I facilitated the working group and she was highly engaged in the work we were doing. She always approached it with a positive attitude and such grace. Her knowledge, depth and light will be missed. She was a great SEWG volunteer and did so much good work translating and teaching the LEED Social Equity pilot credits. —Karema Seliem

Elizabeth was a wonderful member of our social equity group. She was always eager to learn and become engaged, and always very excited about the work. For the translation, she took the initiative herself—what a perfect way to make our important work available to that many more people. I met Liz in 2018 while we were both having coffee during one of the breaks while we were at a conference. In those wonderful and inexplicable situations that life gives you, we connected incredibly and discovered an affinity beyond our love for sustainability, but also our conviction for equity and social justice. Nothing I write will do justice to what it meant to me to have met her, her unconditional support for the work we do at Chile GBC and the generosity with which she gave us her experience and knowledge and the many hours we spent together talking, virtually planning on how to fix the world from our little trench. Liz was a friend, a role model that leaves an indelible mark on my professional and personal existence. The world is not better without her.
