The LEED v4 energy update reflects a focus on increased energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reductions through an increased threshold for energy performance. This work aligns the LEED v4 requirements with the rigor of LEED v4.1 and also sets the stage for future versions of the rating system.

With the completion of the second public comment, we will enter the next phase of development—ballot, which is scheduled to open in the coming months.

To participate in the ballot, you must first register. Registration will be open from May 1–31 and is open to all employees of USGBC national member organizations with membership in good standing since March 1, 2023. Membership should remain in good standing through the ballot period this summer.
