To maintain your LEED AP or LEED Green Associate credential, you'll need to take LEED-specific continuing education (CE) courses. This allows you, as a sustainability professional, to increase your expertise in green building, demonstrate continued competency and ensure that you are up to date in the current version of the rating system under which you are credentialed. Rating system–specific activities have an explicit connection to the prerequisites, and credits in LEED.

USGBC's education and events choices make it easy for you to find ways to fulfill the LEED-specific CE requirement. If a course is LEED-specific, its webpage will include a list above the course title showing the credentials and specialties for which it is approved, as you can see below in this example:

You can also use the filters on the course page to view LEED-specific courses. Click the dropdown menu under "Continuing Education (Credential)" and select the checkbox that corresponds with your credential. All courses with credits that satisfy that credential's requirements will populate the page results.

If you are a LEED AP with specialty, six of your 30 required CE hours must be specific to your rating system specialty or credential. If you are a LEED Green Associate, three of your 15 hours must be specific to any of the LEED rating systems. Your other hours may be related to general green building, environmental sustainability, human health, resilience and the circular economy obtained through courses or other activities.
