Webinar series: Federal Funding for School Buildings

When is it? Late June through late August

Who is it for? Advocates and school staff interested in leveraging new federal grants and tax incentives for school building projects.

Why attend? You have likely gotten some information about grants and tax incentives that were passed in the bipartisan infrastructure law and the Inflation Reduction Act that can apply to schools, but which schools and projects are actually eligible? What is the first step to leveraging the opportunities? What are the smart questions to ask? Experts will answer these and more questions in a free four-part series.

In-person workshops: School Indoor Air Quality

Where and when is it? Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in Berkeley, California, June 21–22; Washington, D.C., Oct. 18–19

Who is it for? School system staff who want to learn more about formalizing their indoor air quality (IAQ) management plan and understanding how to use IAQ data to inform action.

Why attend? COVID-19 has transformed the way we monitor and manage IAQ in schools, and school systems must create or reexamine IAQ management plans that fit the current reality. This training will focus on developing or strengthening formal plans, including incorporating up-to-date practices around IAQ monitoring. The Center for Green Schools is co-hosting these two free training opportunities with the U.S. Department of Energy's Efficient and Healthy Schools Campaign, in coordination with the U.S. EPA.

Virtual workshop: Greenhouse Gas Accounting Deep Dive

When is it? June 20, July 19, Aug. 24

Who is it for? School system staff who lead climate or sustainability strategy for their organization and want to develop a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions baseline to set climate action goals and measure progress. The workshop is also open to those who work with school systems who would like to learn more.

Why attend? Each session in this three-part series will be held virtually and feature case studies, industry expert presentations, and opportunities for attendees to dive deeply into GHG program planning and data organization. This workshop is a focused, hands-on opportunity to get started using GHG accounting in school systems. Attendance is limited, and tickets for the series cost between $40 and $75 for different types of attendees.
