Are you interested in catalyzing market transformation in building design, construction and operations by contributing to the technical development of the global leadership standard for high-performance green buildings? If so, volunteer for one of our many LEED committees!

USGBC seeks innovative sustainability professionals and experts in the design, construction and operations of buildings and communities to serve on the committees. We are seeking diverse applicants from around the globe to fill the vacant positions.

The following LEED committees are now accepting applications for new members:

Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group (EA TAG)
Indoor Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group (EQ TAG)
Location and Planning Technical Advisory Group (LP TAG)
Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group (MR TAG)
Sustainable Sites Technical Advisory Group (SS TAG)
Water Efficiency Technical Advisory Group (WE TAG)

The application period will close on Friday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.

Who should apply?

Ideal candidates are familiar with the LEED rating system and have one or more of the specific areas of expertise sought by a particular committee. All LEED committee volunteers must be employees of USGBC member organizations. They are talented professionals who can commit to regular calls (average 2–3 hours per month), offline review and comment on technical rating system language (average 1–2 hours per call).Volunteers are required to attend at least two-thirds (67%) of all committee calls.

Each volunteer position will be for a first one-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2024. Volunteers are eligible to serve a maximum of four consecutive years total on a given committee.

Important dates

May 22: Application period opens.
Aug. 4: Application period closes.
September–October: LEED committee members and staff review all applications and recommend top candidates to the LEED Steering Committee and USGBC Board of Directors for appointment.
October–November: Applicants notified.
November: New member orientation and training.
Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2024: First term for new committee volunteers.
