Alana Pedalino has earned recognition from ACES: The Society for Editing, the 92nd Street Y Unterberg Poetry Center, MDDC Press Association, University of Maryland MFA Program in Creative Writing and Folger Shakespeare Library. She works in children's publishing for Scholastic Book Clubs and loves to kayak and travel. Her work has appeared in Bon Appetit, Struggle Mag, Chicken Soup for the Soul, The Buffalo News and The Aquarian Weekly. Alana graduated (early!) from the University of Maryland, where she majored in journalism and minored in creative writing. She recorded, edited, hosted and produced podcast episodes and managed the blog for Madcap, a D.C.-based audio company; acted as the deputy managing editor for The Diamondback, the university’s independent student newspaper; reported from the heart of Washington, D.C., with Capital News Service. Alana was also a poetry teaching assistant for the Jimenez-Porter Writers’ House living and learning program at the university.
