Janna Starr is the Certification Program Specialist, supporting the LEED Volume Program on the Certification Department at GBCI. She serves as account manager for portfolio-level customers in the LEED Volume program, facilitating certification services to project teams focused on green building projects. In her role, she also develops resources and educates customers on the certification process.
Prior to this role, she was the Facilities & Events Manager and Sustainability Officer at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, which is a part of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At the garden, she ran public outreach events and managed the LEED Platinum education center facilities. Janna is based in Durham, North Carolina. Before her time in North Carolina, Janna lived in New York City where she managed green events and managed recycling and compost programs for parades and festivals in NYC. Janna received her undergraduate dual degree in History and Sociology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Outside of work, Janna’s favorite things are to explore hiking trails, go antique shopping, watch sci-fi films, and brainstorm content for her sustainability-focused Instagram account @wastefairy.
