Kurt Steiner

LEED Specialist, Location & Transportation

Washington, District of Columbia

Kurt brings more than a decade of experience in urban and transportation planning, green buildings, and people and project management. In his current role, Kurt oversees technical development of the Location and Transportation credit category of the LEED rating systems, and provides technical support for the LEED Transit, Neighborhood Development, and Cities
and Communities rating systems.

Previously, Kurt served as a transportation planner for a Boston-based transportation engineering and planning firm, applying his multimodal mobility expertise to the company’s projects throughout the region. His portfolio of projects included bus transit planning and design, bicycle and pedestrian facilities planning, parking management studies, and municipal comprehensive planning. Kurt also has experience in operations management with a large healthcare technology company; in that role, he led a team of business analysts to optimize delivery of revenue cycle management services for over 100,000 healthcare providers across the U.S.

Kurt holds a BA in Environmental Studies from American University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech. Kurt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Planning Association, and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals.
